The leaves grow to about 15-20 cm long and 9-12 cm wide. The species name refers to the striking white midrib of the leaf. The rest of the leaf is velvety green. The petioles are finely hairy and fuzzy. It has an underground stem that grows about 10 cm deep into the soil and then produces lateral runners.
