Like many other species in this group, it probably grows in nature on shady limestone slopes in dense undergrowth.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eIt is a small species with leaves only about 15 to 20 cm long, which are noticeably hard and thick, reminiscent of succulent leaves. Overall, they grow to about 20 to 30 cm tall and 30 cm wide. Several popular cultivars of \u003cem\u003eA. reginula\u003c\/em\u003e exist.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e 'Black Velvet' is not a variety in the true sense.
