anthurium-bakeri
Anthurium bakeri
Anthurium bakeri is widespread in Central America, particularly in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama. It grows as an epiphyte in the lowland rainforest, in the deep undergrowth on the trunks of large trees. It remains relatively small (for an anthurium ). The long, thin leaves reach about 50 cm in length and only 4 to 7 cm in width. Unlike other anthuriums with similarly thin leaves, these are not drooping but stand horizontally. They are surprisingly robust and leathery, and especially on older plants, they are a very dark green.

A. bakeri flowers even when very small, usually producing 1 to 3 small inflorescences. The species is autogamous (self-fertile) and develops bright red berries, each containing a single seed, entirely on its own.
