On the upper surface, they are (when fully grown) velvety dark green with light veins that are clearly raised above the leaf surface. Fresh, young leaves are initially yellowish to orange, and only later light green.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The rhizome is compact, up to 5 cm thick, and grows upright. It regularly forms very thick, sturdy stilt roots that support it.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003cem\u003eAnthurium regale\u003c\/em\u003e only ever bears a few leaves at a time, even with good care and perfect conditions! More than three leaves simultaneously are rare in larger plants.
