Unfortunately, we do not know exactly which species or hybrid our plants are. However, it is certainly a cultivar derived from, or a hybrid with, \u003ci\u003eBillbergia saundersii\u003c\/i\u003e from eastern Brazil.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt has a very narrow, almost completely vertical funnel (in bright light) measuring approximately 6 to 9 cm in diameter. The leaves are dark green to purple in colour with yellowish spots on the curved tips. Sometimes a pink colour gradient can also be seen here. In lower light, the funnels open wider and the leaves remain green.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBillbergia saundersii is a large species. The funnels can grow to a height of 60 to 80 cm. It produces numerous offshoots and thus, over time, forms a dense clump of closely packed leaf rosettes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe inflorescences are long and protrude from the top of the funnel. The inflorescence itself is red; the flowers are green with blue-edged petals.
