' Long Leaf' is a rather slow-growing vine from the Indonesian province of Kalimantan Barat (abbreviated "Kalbar"), which is located in southwestern Borneo.

Unlike other Dioscorea species in our selection, this variety does not form tubers and is therefore not seasonal. It does not require a dry dormancy period but grows continuously throughout the year. However, it also grows significantly slower than the tuber-forming varieties.

It is characterized by very narrow, elongated leaves. On larger plants, the upper surface of the leaves also displays a silvery hue, similar to Philodendron hastatum , for example. However, this coloration is not as pronounced in young plants. Only larger plants develop leaves with the typical "ear-shaped" markings. The leaves grow to about 20 cm long and approximately 5 cm wide at their widest point. Due to its slow growth, it is not considered a "weed" in terrariums and integrates well. It twines around thinner branches and does not become invasive.

We can't say for sure whether it can be kept as a houseplant. So far, we've only grown it in our greenhouse, where it copes very well even with humidity levels below 50%, at least during the day.

You will receive a young plant in a 7cm square pot.
