This natural variegation camouflages the plant in the forest, blurring its contours and making the leaves appear infested with lichens and algae, which makes it less attractive to herbivores.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt grows epiphytically or lithophytically in evergreen tropical forests.
