humata-heterophylla
Humata (Davallia) heterophylla
This small, climbing fern originates from the islands of the Philippine archipelago, Papua, the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia.

The leaves are 5 to 8 cm long and surprisingly tough. Their prominent veins give them a structure somewhat reminiscent of the famous Anthurium veitchii .
Humata heterophylla creeps or climbs on virtually any surface and can even attach itself to smooth surfaces like glass with its aerial roots. The species epithet heterophylla refers to the differently shaped fronds this fern can develop. It is, in fact, a fern with so-called dimorphic leaves. The leaves used for photosynthesis (trophophylls) look different from the fertile, spore-producing leaves (sporophylls). The fertile leaves are pinnate and bear elongated sori on their undersides.

This fern grows rather slowly but is surprisingly robust against dry air and dehydration. However, it still grows best in a terrarium. It can also be cultivated as a hanging plant, but then it will grow less densely.

You will receive one plant in a 7 cm square pot.
