The leaves have a dark green, sometimes almost black, base color and usually exactly three pink to red longitudinal stripes. This coloration is most pronounced in low light and warm temperatures.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp\u003eThe leaves are arranged spirally on each shoot, and when they reach a certain size, an inflorescence emerges from their center, which can reach up to 30 cm in height. The flowers are small, white, and rather inconspicuous. After flowering, the shoot from which the inflorescence grew slowly dies back, but produces numerous runners that in turn grow to flowering size.
