Description
Alocasia suhirmaniana is an Alocasia species described in 1998, which develops very large, patterned leaves and resembles Alocasia "watsoniana". It is known only from a very small area, Kolaka Utara, on the island of Sulawesi (Indonesia). Unfortunately, there is not much information available about this species. In the wild, it appears to be rare and not very widespread.
The leaves reportedly grow to over 80 cm in length, and there are several pictures that seem to confirm this. It differs from Alocasia 'watsoniana' primarily in that its leaves are larger and its striking, light-colored veins do not split before the leaf margin. The leaf shape is also rounder, and the underside is deep purple instead of red.
Its name is often misspelled as Alocasia "suhermania," or it is confused with Alocasia "watsoniana." The latter has been stripped of its species status and is now considered one of several forms of A. longiloba . A. suhirmaniana , however, remains a separate and accepted species.
You will receive a young plant in a 14cm pot, approximately 30 to 40cm tall with 3 to 4 leaves.
