Alpinia galanga (Thai ginger, galangal)

This ginger from Southeast Asia is fast-growing and reaches up to 2 meters in height in its natural habitat. As a houseplant, it remains significantly smaller, rarely exceeding 1.5 meters in height. The underground rhizome is used in a variety of ways, especially in Thai cuisine. Most commonly, the rhizome is ground and used in spice pastes. The flavor is completely different from that of common ginger ( Zingiber officinale ). Thai ginger is spicy, pungent, and reminiscent of lemon and pine resin.

The leaves also have a slightly spicy smell when rubbed.

You will receive a young plant approximately 20-30cm tall in a 12cm pot.
