Description
The Atemoya ( Annona x atemoya ) is a cross between Annona squamosa (cinnamon apple) and Annona cherimola (cherimoya).
Its growth pattern is similar to that of the cherimoya tree, reaching a maximum height of about 9 meters, though it usually remains considerably smaller. It branches very early and low down on the trunk, so that the lowest branches often touch the ground. This makes it look more like a shrub than a tree. The fruits grow to about 10 cm in length and diameter and can weigh up to 2 kg. They contain few seeds but a great deal of the delicious, white pulp. They have an intensely sweet taste with a slightly tart note.
