Description
Begonia incarnata, also known by the synonym Begonia metallica, is a shrubby species from southern Mexico.
Under ideal conditions, it can grow up to about 1.5 meters tall, but usually remains smaller. The leaves are glossy medium green on top with dark, sunken veins. The hairs are sparse on the upper side, but significantly denser on the underside. It is said that the leaves look like embossed silk.
The growth habit is upright. The flowers are pink with red hairs on the buds and appear in summer and autumn. It is an easy-care species.
Within the Begonia genus, it is classified in the section Knesebeckia.
