This begonia originates from tropical Africa, where it is widespread in various forms. In most areas, it is a uniform green. The beautifully patterned subspecies *nimbaensis* , which we offer here, comes from only a very small area in the Nimba Mountains on the border of Guinea and Ivory Coast. There, it grows in the deep shade of the mountain rainforests, mostly in moss cushions on rocks . It grows as a creeping plant and rarely exceeds 15 cm in height. The individual leaves are round and reach a diameter of 5 to 8 cm. Their base color is light green with contrasting bright red veins. In bright light (as seen in some of the pictures of our mother plant), the markings become dark red to brown or even almost black. The leaf stalks are reddish and densely hairy. It branches profusely and can quickly form dense carpets.
Larger plants may be suitable as houseplants. They are quite robust, but prefer warmth. If you can provide them with a warm, humid spot in your home, they could thrive there.
Its flowers are orange to yellow. It belongs to the section Loasibegonia .

You will receive a strong young plant in a 7cm pot. These young plants still require high humidity. Therefore, please keep them in a terrarium or plant display case initially, rather than as a houseplant.
