This undescribed begonia originates from near Mount Kinabalu in the Ranau District of Sabah, Malaysia, on Borneo. It has light green leaves, approximately 2 to 3 cm long, with dark spots, and grows lithophytically in its natural habitat, on moist, mossy rocks. The leaves are slightly thickened and somewhat succulent. Its appearance is reminiscent of some of the fleshy-leaved Philippine begonias, such as *Begonia blancii* , but it remains much, much smaller. At first glance, it could even be mistaken for *Peperomia prostrata *!
It grows as a very dense, compact plant, eventually forming a flat mat. It reaches a height of about 4 to 6 cm. Only the flower stalks stand out prominently. These grow up to 15 cm long and bear very pretty, approximately 2 cm wide, white/pink flowers.
