This begonia originates from southern Sarawak in Borneo. It closely resembles Begonia lichenora , but grows larger and has a more pronounced blue iridescence. It climbs on clay slopes in the lowland rainforest. The leaves remain small, measuring approximately 3.5 to 5.5 cm in length and width, and are held just above the substrate. They have a velvety, shimmering surface. In low light, they display a strong blue iridescence. It grows into a dense mat with numerous branches. Very large specimens can even be multi-layered. It does not grow too quickly and is therefore easy to control in a terrarium. It tends to decline after flowering and can sometimes even die completely. It is important to take cuttings promptly if you wish to preserve it.
It blooms with tiny, pink flowers.
It belongs to the Petermannia section.
