Description
Begonia U485 is a previously unidentified or undescribed begonia species, which has been assigned collection number 485 by the American Begonia Society . Nothing is known about its origin.
Its appearance and flowers closely resemble a Rex begonia cultivar, and it is possibly a hybrid. Its rapid, vigorous growth also supports this. Larger specimens are well-suited as houseplants.
The leaves are dark gray with serrated edges and very fine, white dots reminiscent of the night sky. It exhibits a strong, dark blue iridescence when growing in low light. It reaches a height of approximately 30 cm with leaves measuring about 15 x 10 cm. The undersides of the leaves and the petioles are red and covered with reddish hairs.
The flowers are large and range in color from pink to red.
It probably belongs to the section Platycentrum .
You will receive a strong young plant in a 10.5 cm pot. Please treat these small plants like terrarium plants initially and keep them in high humidity.
