Description
Bulbophyllum meduase originates from Southeast Asia and is found in Thailand and Malaysia, Borneo, the Lesser Sunda Islands, and Sumatra. It grows epiphytically on larger trees. Its habitat is consistently warm, with high humidity and moderate light. The leaves are approximately 10 to 15 cm long and 4 to 6 cm wide. It grows as a compact plant and does not develop long rhizomes between the pseudobulbs.
The creamy-white flowers usually appear in late summer and autumn on long stems in clusters of about 10 to 15, arranged in a circle at the top of the stem. The individual flowers are actually quite small, but have very long, thin, drooping petals. The flowers are said to have an unpleasant scent, but we haven't been able to confirm this. The faint fragrance is more reminiscent of cake batter. The flowers only last about 5 to 10 days. They last longer in high humidity.
It can certainly be kept as a houseplant, but then it's better potted than tied up.
You will receive a flowering, mounted plant.
