Calathea ornata

Calathea ornata , which according to current taxonomy is actually Goeppertia ornata , originates from northern South America and is found in the lowlands of Colombia and Venezuela. It grows in the shady undergrowth of rainforests at altitudes of 250–1200 m. It is one of the larger members of the genus and reaches a height of approximately 80 cm to 1 m with leaves up to 30 cm long. Several forms exist, differing mainly in the shape of the leaves and the color of their fine stripes. We offer here a particularly beautiful, dark-leaved form with pink stripes. In mature plants, the stripes become more of a light pink to white.
