Laguncularia racemosa (White Mangrove)

White mangroves of the genus Laguncularia form a dense network of supporting and pneumon roots. The buoyant fruits often drift on the water for some time after ripening before germinating elsewhere. However, they retain their viability for only a few weeks and only as long as they do not dry out in the meantime.

We haven't yet tested the maximum salinity at which the white mangrove will continue to grow without problems. It naturally tolerates brackish water (~10-20 ppt), but we keep this plant in pure freshwater.
