Description
Philodendron mayoi originates from the central Brazilian state of Goiás, where it grows in rather exposed, dry locations. It resembles Philodendron bipinnatifidum and other frequently offered Philodendron with deeply lobed leaves, but differs in a few easily observable details. The easiest way to identify P. mayoi is by its orange to red leaf veins and petioles. These are vibrantly colored, especially in summer when it receives enough light. Its "ribs" are also significantly rounder and, in large plants, more deeply lobed than other similar Philodendron. The leaves are leathery and glossy. Mature specimens only grow leaves about 50 cm in size and remain quite compact.
Due to its robustness against dry air and dehydration, it is well-suited as a houseplant, and a summer stay in the garden or on the balcony does it a lot of good.
You will receive a strong plant in a 12 cm round pot, approx. 30 cm high.
