Description
Philodendron sodiroi likely originates from Colombia. However, this is not known for certain, as it has only been known from cultivation since its first mention in 1883. The origin of the original plant is unclear.
It grows as a hemiepiphytic vine with very attractive leaves adorned with white patches and spots, which appear metallic silver in the right light. This appearance, incidentally, is not due to a white color or lack of chlorophyll in the leaf, but rather to air pockets beneath the epidermis.
Philodendron sodiroi resembles Philodendron brandtianum , but grows significantly larger and retains its silvery markings even on mature leaves. Like most other Philodendrons, it becomes very large when given a climbing surface. However, when grown indoors, the leaves usually do not exceed approximately 30 x 20 cm. When cultivated as a hanging plant, the leaves typically do not grow larger than about 15 cm.
You will receive a young plant in a 9cm pot. The ideal size to provide a trellis or other support so the plant can start climbing!
