Phlegmariurus phlegmaria 'Black Stem' (Huperzia phlegmaria)

This tropical clubmoss from Southeast Asia is known by several names. The accepted name (according to PPG 1) is Phlegmariurus phlegmaria , but most sources use the older name, Huperzia phlegmaria .

Whatever its true name, this beautiful spore-bearing plant is a real eye-catcher in any tropical terrarium. It grows hanging or creeping and can reach impressive lengths of several meters. However, since it grows rather slowly and can be easily pruned, its size won't pose a problem in the terrarium. The "Black Stem" form develops black and very hard stems over time, creating a striking contrast to the light green leaves. Young plants are green throughout and feel soft to the touch. Larger plants become surprisingly hard!



You will receive a well-rooted and established plant with several shoots of approximately 20cm in length in a 9cm square pot.
