Description
Pleione are terrestrial orchids from the Himalayas, Central China, and Indochina. In nature, they typically grow in moss and humus cushions on rocks or among the roots of large trees. They are best cultivated in a pot with a substrate of moss and bark mixed with some ordinary garden soil. They bloom in early spring, usually before the leaves appear. The leaves then emerge only after the flowering period and remain until late autumn, nourishing the pseudobulbs. From about November onward, the leaves die back, and the plant overwinters as a leafless bulb. They are not frost-hardy and should therefore be overwintered in a frost-free and dry location (e.g., in a cellar). The same care can be taken as with dahlia bulbs.
You will receive a Pleione in a 12cm round pot. The available flower colors can be found in the image gallery. The plants are in various growth stages (leafless, leafy, flowering). Therefore, unfortunately, a specific color cannot be selected. If you have a color preference, please write it in the order notes and we will try to accommodate it.
