Sarcopyramis sp. Green Lime

Sarcopyramis are mostly very small Melastomataceae (black-mouthed plants), which are closely related to the better-known Sonerila .

This small Sarcopyramis species likely originates from the Sekadau district of Borneo, Indonesia. It grows in very shady, humid habitats in the deep undergrowth of the rainforest. It reaches a height of approximately 5 to 10 cm. It branches little, if at all, and usually flowers when it reaches a height of about 5 cm. The flowers are pink. The rounded leaves are brownish to green on the upper surface with a light green margin. Particularly striking are the numerous stiff hairs that emerge from small, white dots on the leaves. The undersides of the leaves are red. In bright light, the leaves curl downwards to avoid excessive radiation.

You will receive a plant approximately 4 to 5cm tall in a 5cm pot. It will be capable of flowering at this size.
