Description
Schoenorchis fragrans is a tiny, monopodial orchid from Assam (India), Myanmar, Thailand, and Yunnan (China). Within the genus Schoenorchis, it belongs to the section Pumila . This section contains about four other very similar species, which differ only in minor details of their flowers. Since our plants have not yet flowered, we unfortunately cannot say with 100% certainty whether this is indeed S. fragrans or one of the other, very similar Schoenorchis species .
It grows to about 3 to a maximum of 5 cm tall, with very densely arranged, fleshy leaves in two rows. In bright light, the leaves turn red. The tiny, pink/white flowers appear in summer on a short, branched inflorescence in groups of 5 to over 20 individual flowers. Larger plants can produce several flower stalks and thus have over 50 flowers at once. The flowers last about 4 weeks and have a pleasant fragrance, especially in the morning.
You will receive a flowering, mounted plant.
