Selaginella hoffmannii originates from Central and South America. It does not grow as a ground cover but strictly upright. The individual stems reach a height of approximately 10 to 25 cm and branch out at the top into a small "crown," resembling a tiny tree. The rhizome grows underground, producing new stems at short intervals. The leaves are very small and densely packed, forming a closed "crown." This Selaginella can survive short periods of drought thanks to this rhizome. It resembles Selaginella umbrosa 'Little Tree' but, given sufficient light, has striking red stems and a somewhat finer structure.

Because of its unusual growth form and the striking contrast of its red stems, this species stands out particularly strongly from other Selaginella and is a real highlight in terrariums!

You will receive a strong plant in a 7 cm pot, approximately 15 cm tall.

Please note: The small twigs of this species break very easily. Even with very good packaging, some pieces will likely break off after shipping. Unfortunately, this cannot be prevented, but it doesn't significantly harm the plant. After an acclimatization period, this species continues to grow quite quickly. Such damage is not grounds for a complaint.
