Sonerila sp. 'Lightning' (Fluo)

Sonerila sp. 'Lightning' is sometimes also sold as sp. 'Fluo' or 'Fluo 3 stripes'. However, there are several differently appearing Sonerila available under this name (e.g., a significantly hairier form with purple hairs).

Naming these Sonerila is generally very difficult, as even minimal variations in leaf pattern often lead to them being sold as new varieties. Most striped Sonerila are likely variants of Sonerila pulchella or a closely related species.

The plants offered here have dark green to bluish leaves with a single, continuous white stripe along the midrib. Only very large plants have additional white stripes along the main veins, which do not reach the leaf margin. Surrounding the sharply defined white stripe is a blurred, light green pattern. This makes the white stripes appear to glow, hence the name "Fluo".

These patterns and colors only develop when the plants grow under good conditions and low light. Too much light can cause the leaves to turn completely green.

Sonerila sp. 'Lightning' likely originates from Thailand. It grows to about 15 cm tall, but usually remains somewhat smaller. It branches less than other Sonerila varieties , so pruning is necessary if a denser bush is desired.

You will receive a young plant with several shoots in a 5 cm pot. Some of the young plants may not yet have their full coloration. However, it is guaranteed to be the plant pictured!
