Description
Tillandsia leiboldiana originates from a large distribution area from southern Mexico to Panama.
This species is quite small, growing to about 15 to 20 cm tall and reaching a diameter of 30 cm. It grows in a rather loose rosette. The leaves are spotted in bright light. Purple when viewed from below, red when viewed from above.
Its most striking and beautiful feature is its flower stalk, which can reach up to 50 cm in length. The bracts of the stalk are bright red or pink, and the flowers themselves are purple. The tubular flowers appear gradually from the base of the stalk to the tip. Each individual flower is only open for about a day. The bracts fade somewhat after their flowers have finished blooming.
The ' Mora ' selection is distinguished by its particularly vibrant purple bracts and flowers, as well as the size of its inflorescence. With proper care, this inflorescence can last for almost a year before it slowly dies back, and the plant then produces offsets with new flower spikes!
A truly beautiful and surprisingly easy-to-care-for species.
You will receive a flowering plant in a 5 cm round pot.
