Description
Zealandia pustulata originates from New Zealand, Tasmania, and the east coast of Australia. It grows as a creeping or climbing plant with simply lobed leaves. Its growth habit and leaf shape are similar to those of the golden polypody ( Phlebodium aureum ), but it remains significantly smaller, with leaves only reaching about 30 cm in length. Furthermore, its leaves are glossy dark green (instead of matte and light green), and the rhizome is black (instead of orange). Just like the golden polypody, it is very easy to care for and thrives even in darker locations. It is also well-suited for medium to large terrariums.
This plant has been given several new names due to multiple taxonomic revisions, which can lead to considerable confusion. The old name *Microsorum diversifolium* is (still) the most common. *Phymatosorus diversifolius* is also sometimes used. However, the currently (2019) correct and accepted name is exclusively * Zealandia pustulata*.
