Description
Alocasia brancifolia originates from New Guinea and the northern Moluccas.
It is a large species, growing to about 100 to 150 cm tall, but usually remaining somewhat smaller. The leaves grow to approximately 50 cm long and 30 cm wide. They are very distinctive, deeply divided (pinnate), and reminiscent of fern fronds. Each leaf has up to 9 separate segments per side, which are only about 1 to 3 cm wide.
The leaf stalks are light/dark green striped and spotted, resembling Alocasia zebrina .
As the species ages, it develops an upright trunk and can thus reach a significantly greater overall height.
It differs from the similar Alocasia portei in its spotted petioles (green in A. portei ), its more deeply lobed leaves, and details in the flower. Furthermore, it does not grow as large as A. portei .
You will receive a strong plant, approximately 40 to 50 cm tall in a 14 cm pot.
