Description
Amorphophallus albus is endemic to the dry scrublands of southern China. Like Amorphophallus konjac , it is one of the most commonly offered species. Its elongated daughter tubers are particularly interesting, giving the tubers a squid-like appearance. Contrary to its name (albus = white), the spathe of the inflorescence is usually greenish-white or even entirely green. The spadix is yellow. The tubers are capable of flowering from approximately 300 g. Like all white-flowered Amorphophallus species, this species does NOT emit an unpleasant odor during flowering.
