Description
Anadendrum are small to medium-sized, climbing araceae from Southeast Asia. They resemble Philodendron but are not closely related. They belong to their own tribe, the Anadendreae, within the subfamily Monsteroideae. Therefore, they are more closely related to Monstera than to Philodendron . Anadendrum are almost unknown in cultivation, although there are some truly beautiful species.
The species we are selling here is possibly * Anadendrum calcicola *, or a similar but as yet undescribed species. It is sometimes also offered as * Anadendrum* sp. 'Black'. The leaves are dark green, almost black in low light, and pointed on young plants. On older plants, the leaves become increasingly narrower and longer. It appears to remain small, producing leaves only about 10 cm long and 3 to 4 cm wide. Our largest plant is over 2 m tall and has not yet developed any larger leaves. This would make it very suitable for small terrariums where typical climbing plants like *Philodendron* would become too large. It grows slowly.
You will receive a strong young plant in a 6 cm pot.
