Annona muricata (Guanabana)

Annona muricata has already been given many common names - the most well-known among them are soursop, guanabana, soursoup or graviola.
Almost entirely unknown in Europe, the fruits of this shrub are most comparable to cherimoyas ( Annona cherimola ).
The active ingredients of guanabana (annonacin) have already been identified in pharmacology, following several studies that demonstrated an anti-cancer effect (Potential Benefits of Annona muricata in Combating Cancer: A Review; A. Yajid et al. 2018). Other toxicologically interesting findings also suggest that further new insights can be expected in the future.
Even in the computer game "Green Hell", guanabana has made it into play as a helpful medicinal fruit.
Annona muricata naturally branches out quite close to the ground and abundantly, which gives this plant more of a shrub-like appearance.
