[expand Title="Details about the plant"]
Begonia baik originates from southern Padawan, the southernmost province of the Malaysian part of Borneo. It is a creeping dwarf species that grows naturally on loamy and sandy slopes in deep shade. The stem reaches a length of about 15 to 20 cm and usually bears only 3 to 4 leaves at a time. The leaves are 7 to 11 cm long and 5 to 8 cm wide, with a brown to gray base color. Only young leaves show a green tinge. They are bullate, with each bump bearing a single pink hair. The leaves are particularly striking in their thinness and papery texture. Outside of a very humid terrarium, they dry out very quickly. Therefore, this species can only be kept in terrariums with 80% relative humidity or higher.
Begonia baik grows slowly and flowers rather infrequently. The flowers are white to pale pink.
It belongs to the Petermannia section.
