This begonia originates from southern Sarawak in Borneo. It was described as a new species in 2017. There, it grows as a climber on clay slopes in the lowland rainforest. The leaves remain tiny, measuring approximately 1.5 to 3.5 cm in length and width, and are held just above the substrate. They have a velvety, shimmering surface and, in low light, exhibit a faint blue iridescence. It grows into a dense mat with numerous branches. Very large specimens can even be multi-layered. It does not grow too quickly and is therefore easy to control in a terrarium.
It blooms with tiny, pink flowers.
It belongs to the Petermannia section.
