Boyania colombiana is a small, ground-hipped plant (Melastomataceae) from southern Colombia. It grows terrestrially in shady, consistently moist locations with sandy soil, near streams or seepage areas. The leaves are approximately 10 to 15 cm long and 8 to 10 cm wide. It remains very low-growing, forming a ground-hugging rosette about 30 cm in diameter. The leaves are velvety olive-green with light green and reddish markings. Fresh leaves are reddish and darken over time. The leaves are bristly on both sides. It produces numerous pink flowers that open gradually. The flower stalks reach a height of about 15 cm.
The leaves are very thin and papery and dry out quickly if they are not kept in very high humidity.
Oddly enough, this plant is sometimes mistakenly offered as a Phyllagathis species. At first glance , it may resemble a Phyllagathis , but once it flowers, it becomes clear that it is not.
