Description
This extremely pretty little plant is an Araceae (Aroid). It probably originates from the Indonesian part of Borneo. It resembles the slightly smaller Bucephalandra belindae and Bucephalandra sordidula. It may be a new species or a location variant of one of the two species mentioned.
It has a creeping rhizome that branches profusely, forming dense stands over time. The leaves grow to about 4cm long but only 5 to 8mm wide and have a wavy margin. They are dark green to brownish, with a slight blue shimmer and numerous white dots. The undersides of the leaves are grayish to pale purple. The spathe of the inflorescence is white.
It can thrive both as an aquarium plant and as a terrestrial plant. On land, it should always be kept very moist. Its growth habit remains unchanged whether grown emersed or submersed, but it grows significantly faster as an emersed plant than underwater.
Notes on in-vitro plants: These plants are supplied in germ-free cups with a sterile nutrient solution and are intended for immediate use. Plants in in-vitro cups cannot be stored for long. Therefore, please open and plant them immediately upon receipt. To do this, rinse the nutrient solution thoroughly under running water. Divide the plants from the cup into portions of any size and plant them. When used as a terrarium plant, keep them very moist initially and pay attention to hygiene (avoid mold, etc. in the terrarium). Opened in-vitro plants are excluded from exchange.
You will receive a vigorous, branched plant in a 6 cm aquatic plant pot. Grown emersed.
