Description
A very pretty mini orchid with large, long-lasting flowers.
Dendrobium cuthbertsonii originates from Papua New Guinea. There, it grows at altitudes of 750 to 3500 meters above sea level on moss-covered trees or rocks near rivers and streams. It exhibits considerable variation in flower color, including red, yellowish, and white/pink forms. The form offered here has red flowers. The plant itself is a true miniature orchid with pseudobulbs only 2 to 4 cm long and dark green leaves 2 to 3 cm long with prominent bumps. The undersides of the leaves are a striking dark red when exposed to sufficient light. In contrast to the tiny plant, the flowers appear oversized. They can easily reach 4 to 5 cm in diameter, making them larger than the rest of the plant! Their remarkable longevity is particularly noteworthy. A single flower can last for 2 to 3 months under ideal conditions without wilting.
This is a highland orchid, which should not be kept in a warm tropical terrarium!
You will receive a flowering plant in a 6 cm orchid pot.
