Description
This tropical leaf cactus originates from southern Mexico. Its currently accepted name is actually Disocactus anguliger , rather than Epiphyllum anguliger . In German, it is also called "Sägeblattkaktus" (saw-leaf cactus), for obvious reasons.
The leafless, flat stems grow to over 1 meter in length and about 5 to 8 centimeters wide, with lobed edges that give this cactus its typical and unique appearance. The fragrant, white flowers reach a diameter of 10 to 13 centimeters and are only open at night, attracting primarily bats.
In nature, this cactus grows epiphytically, meaning it grows on and around trees in tropical forests. These areas have a humid and warm climate.
