Description
The pothos, Epipremnum aureum, is an uncomplicated and easy-care plant suitable for almost any location, and it tolerates low light and drought well. The 'Manjula' cultivar is characterized by a larger proportion of variegated leaf area, which is also more whitish-green than yellow, giving it an overall much brighter appearance.
This species likely originated on the island of Mo'orea, part of French Polynesia. However, it has since been spread worldwide by humans in tropical and subtropical regions and has established itself there as an invasive species. Today, it can be found from South America to Africa and Asia to Australia. Due to its extreme robustness, it can grow almost anywhere where it is frost-free all year round. The natural form of the pothos shows golden variegation! This is not a cultivar selected by humans. Of course, there are numerous cultivars derived from it, where particular plants were selected for their variegation, e.g., 'Neon', 'Marble Queen' or the 'N'Joy' offered here and others, but the natural form already has variegated leaves.
Due to a genetic defect, this plant rarely blooms. It is also likely that the original population, from which all currently cultivated specimens descend, can be traced back to a single mother plant that was variegated and has since only propagated vegetatively.
Like most Epipremnum, the pothos also grows very large if it can climb. The mature leaves can grow up to 80 cm long and 60 cm wide and are pinnate. They then resemble the leaves of mature Monstera.
You will receive a strong plant with several vines in a 12 cm pot.
