Eriospermum paradoxum "Haasklossia"

Eriospermum paradoxum is also known as "rabbit pom-pom" by the local Afrikaans speakers due to its unusual appearance. It looks like a woolly miniature Christmas tree, which the tuber of this plant pushes forward at the onset of winter in South Africa (Our Summer). The inflorescence often develops beforehand. For the rest of the year, the tuber enters a dormant phase and is leafless. The individual leaves reach a height of approximately 10 cm, and the tuber a width of approximately 5 cm. The irregularly shaped caudex, covered with craters and protrusions, is characteristic.
