Fittonia gigantea (Giant Mosaic Plant)

Fittonia gigantea originates from Ecuador and Peru. Like the well-known smaller fittonias, it is a typical understory plant that covers the ground in the rainforests there, but it is significantly larger. The leaves of Fittonia gigantea grow to 20 to 25 cm long and 15 to 20 cm wide. It reaches a total height of 30 to 40 cm. Unlike the small mosaic plant ( Fittonia albivenis ), there are no cultivated varieties in different colors; only the wild form with dark green leaves and crimson veins exists.

The flower heads are also significantly larger, but look just as attractive as those of "normal" fittonias.

You will receive a nearly fully grown plant in an 11 or 13 cm square pot. Unfortunately, the large leaves tend to sustain minor damage during handling and transport. This is unavoidable, but it does not significantly affect the plant.
