Description
The dwarf clover fern, Marsilea crenata , originates from tropical and subtropical regions from Indochina to northern Australia. It grows as a creeping rhizome in shallow water or at the water's edge. Its four-lobed leaves resemble clover leaves and are borne as floating leaves on petioles up to 30 cm long. In lower water levels, the petioles are correspondingly shorter. It can also grow as a terrestrial plant on damp mud.
Since it is a fern , *M. crenata* also produces spores. These are formed in so-called sporocarps, which are located close to the rhizome. * Marsilea* , on the other hand, is a heterosporous fern that produces both macrospores and microspores.
It grows more slowly than other floating-leaved plants and is considered a difficult plant to care for in aquariums. It is easier to maintain in the shallow water zone of a paludarium, with its leaves above water.
Instructions for in-vitro plants: These plants are supplied in sterile cups containing a sterile nutrient solution and are intended for immediate use. Plants in in-vitro cups cannot be stored for long periods. Therefore, please open and plant them immediately upon receipt. To do this, thoroughly rinse the nutrient solution under running water. Divide the plants from the cup into portions of the desired size and plant them. When using them as terrarium plants, keep them very moist initially and pay attention to hygiene (avoid mold, etc., in the terrarium). Opened in-vitro plants are non-returnable.
You will receive one portion in a 6cm in-vitro cup.
