Description
This spectacular houseplant originates from the Philippine islands of Luzon, Mindanao, Mindoro, Negros, and Panay. In its natural habitat, it grows as a shrub up to 2 meters tall. Indoors, it remains significantly smaller or can be pruned. The leaves are dark green, oval, and grow up to 30 cm long and wide. The leaf veins are a contrasting light green, and the plant produces numerous protein bodies. In nature, these serve as food for defensive ants, which, in return for this protein-rich food, protect the plant.
The beautiful pink flowers are borne on drooping, also pink, panicles up to 50 cm long. Each panicle can bear up to 100 individual flowers, which bloom successively. It flowers from spring until late autumn.
Plants approximately 30 to 35 cm tall with several shoots. Capable of flowering or flowering, in a 14 cm pot.
The flower spikes and blossoms unfortunately break very easily. We expect that most of them will break or need to be trimmed during shipping. However, this poses no problem for the plant, as Medinillas are very floriferous and your plant will soon bloom again!
Please note: Depending on the season, the plants will be shipped without flowers, with flower buds, or with flowers.
