Description
The Swiss cheese plant, Monstera deliciosa, is one of the most widespread Monstera species. It is found throughout the Neotropics, from Mexico to Brazil. This very chic cultivated variety has white variegated leaves. Each leaf displays a different pattern with varying amounts of white. The stems and flowers are also white striped or speckled.
Monsteras are hemiepiphytic climbers, meaning they start as juvenile plants on the forest floor and then climb trees with their aerial roots. As they do so, they change their size and leaf shape. In the juvenile stage, the leaves are small and have few or no holes. Shortly after they find a surface to climb (and thus receive more light due to the increased height), the leaves quickly become much larger and take on their adult form.
You will receive a plant approximately 40 cm tall in a 17cm pot. This is the ideal size to offer a climbing aid now so that the plant can begin to climb!
