Description
Neoregelia pendula , now actually called Hylaeaicum pendulum , originates from the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador and northern Peru. This small bromeliad reaches a diameter of approximately 10 cm, while the individual leaves can grow to over 20 cm in length, drooping downwards or even bending back beneath the plant. They are often also spirally twisted. The leaf bases form a narrow, bottle-shaped funnel about 6 to 10 cm high. The leaf margins are covered with a row of black spines. Overall, the entire plant is very sturdy and robust, and thus, despite its small final size, suitable for terrariums housing larger animals that could easily damage delicate plants. The center turns cherry-red once the plants reach a flowering size, regardless of whether they receive a lot of light or not!
It forms extensions on very long stolons.
You will receive an almost fully grown plant without a pot or substrate.
