Description
A hybrid of Nepenthes mapuluensis and Nepenthes edwardsiana .
These plants are the first hybrids with Nepenthes mapuluensis in over 50 years.
After its discovery in 1957, N. mapuluensis was considered extinct, and only a single hybrid with it (x ventricosa ) existed. The species itself soon disappeared from cultivation. It was rediscovered during an expedition in 2019. Only since then has the species been cultivated again. Our specimen of N. mapuluensis originates from seeds collected during this expedition, and we can now offer the world's first hybrids with this spectacular species!
The enormous pitchers of Nepenthes mapuluensis are reminiscent in shape of those of N. northiana , but are darker, with an almost black peristome, and much larger. The plants found on the expedition, as well as our female specimen from which these hybrids originate, produce pitchers over 30 cm in diameter.
Crossing it with the equally enormous N. edwardsiana, with its large, red and strongly toothed pitchers, should produce spectacular and, above all, very large results!
You will receive a well-hardened young plant, approximately 3 to 5 cm in diameter, in a 5 cm pot.
Clone: These are plants grown from seeds.
