Description
Nepenthes villosa is certainly one of the most spectacular members of the genus and one of the most impressive carnivorous plants of all. The queen of carnivorous plants.
It is only found on the slopes of Mt. Kinabalu and Mt. Tambuyukon at altitudes of 2300 to 3240 meters, thus belonging to the ultra-highland species.
It reaches a diameter of approximately 50 cm and a length of several meters. It grows very slowly, even compared to other highland Nepenthes . The barrel-shaped pitchers grow to about 25 cm high and 10 cm wide. They have an extremely pronounced, ribbed peristome with inward-pointing "teeth," for which the species is known. The color of the pitchers and peristome varies greatly, from green through yellow and orange to red.
Due to the required significant nighttime temperature drop and the sensitivity of this species, it should be reserved for experienced Nepenthes keepers.
You will receive a well-hardened young plant, approximately 3 to 4cm in diameter in a 5.5cm pot (see picture 2 & 3 in the gallery).
