Description
Nepenthes × Sam is a primary hybrid of Nepenthes talangensis and Nepenthes ventricosa . It inherits its robust and rapid growth from N. ventricosa . From N. talangensis, it receives its contrasting patterned pitchers and the bright red peristome ("lip") on fresh pitchers. The peristome darkens in older pitchers. The pitchers grow to about 20 cm in length, but usually remain somewhat smaller.
Overall, despite its large pitchers, it is a compact-growing Nepenthes and reaches a diameter of only about 40cm.
Since both parent species of Nepenthes × Sam occur even in highland areas ( N. talangensis at 1800 to 2500m, N. ventricosa at 1000 to 2000m), it prefers cooler temperatures and can be kept outdoors very well in summer, provided it experiences a drop in temperature at night. More information can be found in the "Care" tab.
You will receive a very strong plant approximately 30 cm in diameter in a 14 cm hanging pot with at least 2 shoots.
